The floods in logar
On 23rd August 2022, Logar province, following heavy rain around 3:00 PM, was struck by a flash flood, killing 20 people and wounding 30 others. According to the governor's office of Logar, the flood ruined around 3,000 houses and resulted in the loss of 2,000 livestock in the Khushi district.
A day after the devastation caused by the flood, the Gulzad foundation, before any other organization, arrived in Khushi. First, the Foundation team interviewed the devastated villagers of Khushi that had lost their homes, family members, and livestock to ensure fair distribution and determine the right quantity of essential aid required to fulfill the needs of the victims. Then, as per their criterion of aid distribution, the foundation team distributed coupons to the flood victims. The next day the foundation team, through their relief program, distributed essential food packages to the flood victims of the Khushi district in exchange for the coupons.
The foundation team distributed 50 food packages; each included 50kg of flour, 5 liters of cooking oil, 3.5kg of yellow peas, and 3.5kg of sugar, supporting over 300 flood victims.
The foundation team, in their assessment, found that this humanitarian disaster of epic proportions left thousands without shelter and food. Therefore, the Gulzad Foundation appeals to international organizations, local businessmen, and Afghans who are willing to help for their assistance and support to ensure their team's continued delivery of lifesaving aid to the Afghans in need.
